About Aries Tao

Fashion-led wedding photography, built on direction and trust.

I am Aries Tao, a Sydney-based photographer working across weddings, selected work and fashion portrait photography. I document the day, then create the image people remember: directed, lit, polished and fashion-led.

Photography background

My work moves between wedding, editorial, campaign, e-commerce and commercial image-making. The common thread is clean direction, controlled light, refined colour and real expression.

Education and industry roles

I am a Sony Education Affiliate and Godox Ambassador, with photography and lighting workshops across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. I also teach as a university lecturer, with a PhD in Computer Science from Macquarie University and First Class Honours from UNSW Sydney.

Recognition

Recognition includes Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year at the Sony Alpha Awards, Highest Score Australian Wedding Photographer through AIPP, NSW Wedding Photographer of the Year, International Photographer of the Year through NZIPP, International Wedding Photographer of the Year through MPA, Double Master Photographer through WPPI and Grand Master Photographer through AsiaWPA.

How I work

The goal is not to make a wedding look generic. The goal is to keep the real day intact, then add enough lighting, direction and fashion sense to create images that feel stronger than ordinary documentation.
